Denture Stabilization Using Mini Implants – How The Process Works
If you suffer from issues with your dentures, chances are that you are desperate for a solution. Denture issues can cause pain, discomfort – even embarrassment. You deserve better!
The majority of common denture issues (such as shifting dentures, lack of power when eating foods that are hard to chew, and pain caused to gums) can be solved by using the relatively simple procedure of denture stabilization using mini implants.
So what is this procedure and how does it work?
Denture stabilization through the use of implants involves drilling implants securely down into your gums. The implants resemble household screws to a certain extent.
Once the implants are firmly in place, they are rooted there. They will not be moved by the simple pressure that daily life brings to your dentures – that of chewing, or of clenching your teeth. They are nearly immovable.
A small portion of each of the implants (there are usually five or six in total, evenly spaced around your gum line) protrude up above your gum line. The spacing of these protrusions corresponds with aligning holes in the base of the denture.
The two pieces fit together, almost like a tongue in groove mechanism, and the dentures are held in place that way. The procedure results in denture fittings that are incredibly tight and stable, not to mention long lasting.
If you suffer from issues surrounding denture stability, do not hesitate or waste time wondering if you should find out more about denture stabilization. Call Shine Dental Associates in Syosset today and ask us about the possibility of undergoing this procedure yourself. In the event your dentist is not knowledgeable or experienced in this field, you can get a reference to someone who is. Don’t give up!
